Download1 Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads. 2 And I heard a voice from heaven like the roar of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder. The voice I heard was like the sound of harpists playing on their harps, 3 and they were singing a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and before the elders. No one could learn that song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. 4 It is these who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins. It is these who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from mankind as firstfruits for God and the Lamb, 5 and in their mouth no lie was found, for they are before the throne of God, blameless.
The first time in Revelation that the word Father is used for God. This is speaking of the 144,000 that were sealed in Chapter 7. They have stayed with the Jewish traditions, but God is going to give them a new song to sing that will glorify Jesus and the Father since both names are written on their foreheads. Messianic Jews that know that they have died to the law (Romans 7:4) can now be joined together with Christ in the marriage of the Lamb. God wants his chosen people back. Since they are firstfruits to God and the Lamb, I believe there will be revelation and teachings given to the Jewish nation in order to help sanctify Christians. We do walk by faith, but God wants us all to honor him as in the time of the garden. His commandments were written in stone, and when the Messianic Jews come into the fullness of their calling, they will bring the rest of us into further perfection.
John 7:37 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” 39 Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Zechariah 14:8 On that day living waters shall flow out from Jerusalem, half of them to the eastern sea and half of them to the western sea. It shall continue in summer as in winter. 9 And the Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day the Lord will be one and his name one. 10 The whole land shall be turned into a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem. But Jerusalem shall remain aloft on its site from the Gate of Benjamin to the place of the former gate, to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the king’s winepresses. 11 And it shall be inhabited, for there shall never again be a decree of utter destruction. Jerusalem shall dwell in security. 12 And this shall be the plague with which the Lord will strike all the peoples that wage war against Jerusalem: their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths. 13 And on that day a great panic from the Lord shall fall on them, so that each will seize the hand of another, and the hand of the one will be raised against the hand of the other. 14 Even Judah will fight at Jerusalem. And the wealth of all the surrounding nations shall be collected, gold, silver, and garments in great abundance. 15 And a plague like this plague shall fall on the horses, the mules, the camels, the donkeys, and whatever beasts may be in those camps. 16 Then everyone who survives of all the nations that have come against Jerusalem shall go up year after year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Booths. 17 And if any of the families of the earth do not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, there will be no rain on them. 18 And if the family of Egypt does not go up and present themselves, then on them there shall be no rain; there shall be the plague with which the Lord afflicts the nations that do not go up to keep the Feast of Booths. 19 This shall be the punishment to Egypt and the punishment to all the nations that do not go up to keep the Feast of Booths.
In the 1880s the Jews started returning to their old country of Israel, the First Aliyah, 1883 – 1910. During the first Aliyah, agricultural settlements called Moshava were established. Bones come together, sinews and flesh upon them, skin cover them. From 1904 – 1914, the Second Aliyah is largely credited with the revival of the Hebrew language and establishing it as the standard language for Jews in Israel. Eliezer Ben-Yehuda contributed to the creation of the first modern Hebrew dictionary. Although he was an immigrant of the First Aliyah, his work mostly bore fruit during the second. When we speak, we have breath, and this is the language God had for his people. See the prophecy in Ezekiel:
Ezekiel 37:1 The hand of the LORD was upon me, and he brought me out in the Spirit of the LORD and set me down in the middle of the valley; it was full of bones. 2 And he led me around among them, and behold, there were very many on the surface of the valley, and behold, they were very dry. 3 And he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord GOD, you know.” 4 Then he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. 5 Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. 6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the LORD.
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a sound, and behold, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone. 8 And I looked, and behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh had come upon them, and skin had covered them. But there was no breath in them. 9 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, Thus says the Lord GOD: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” 10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army.
11 Then he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are indeed cut off.’ 12 Therefore prophesy, and say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will open your graves and raise you from your graves, O my people. And I will bring you into the land of Israel. 13 And you shall know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves, and raise you from your graves, O my people. 14 And I will put my Spirit within you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I am the LORD; I have spoken, and I will do it, declares the LORD.” the dead will rise from the grave and the body will live when the Spirit is within them"
Now we can all appreciate the efforts of the Hebrew traditions and learn more about God because of Hebrew teachers. Every feast shows the nature of God and the redeeming power of Jesus. Every part of the Levite tradition is an aspect of God’s holiness and our need for Jesus as our savior. Keeping those traditions alive and explaining the details of them brings glory to God.
The loud rumbling of thunder gives us a timeline of when this unsealing of the 144,000 is fulfilled. We see in Revelation 10 that the prophecy of the thunders will be fulfilled when the seventh angel blows his trumpet. This needs a more careful examination, because the seventh trumpet judgement was in chapter 9 and had already been fulfilled. We are in the second prophecy of Revelation. Reading this again, we see that this will be in the days of the voice of the seventh angel. The seventh angel spoke in Revelation 16:17, and when you get to that chapter, it's right at the 1900s. There is indeed a trumpet sounded, a great and mighty war, and it's the last plague judgement. The unsealing of the tribes is in the late 1800s. We have to look to the Old Testament prophets to know what the thunders said, what the mystery of God...proclaimed...to his prophets. Revelation 10:4.
6 Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people. 7 And he said with a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.”
Here we have the Great Awakenings, which lasted from 1727 to 1904. This led to the spirit of God being poured out on Christians, and revivals throughout England, the United States, and later to all the other nations. Research some of these revivals and see how the Spirit of God moved upon entire communities. Read some of the sermons of the great preachers of the time. You will be revived!
In verse 7 we see a very dire warning. The nations that had revival were to fear God because judgement was coming. The British Empire that defied the popes and the United States that were the refuge of the woman in chapter 12 were the first to receive revival. But did they continue to fear God once the Dragon beast was released or did they, too, continue to worship Babylon? They did not repent of their idolatry and will receive due judgement as seen in the next chapters of Revelation.
8 Another angel, a second, followed, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, she who made all nations drink the wine of the passion of her sexual immorality.” 9 And another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he also will drink the wine of God’s wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his anger, and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.” 12 Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus. 13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!”
While God is reviving the Jews, the future bride of Christ, and he is pouring out his Spirit over Christians worldwide, he will be exacting judgement on Babylon the Great. Those responsible for martyring Christians during the Middle Ages to the Reformation will receive God’s wrath. Those who follow the beast and have it’s mark will also see torment. The Holy Roman Empire falls in 1806, the Papal States and the authority of the popes fall in 1798. This fall is the cup of wrath for the harlot in chapter 17.
In Revelation 22:17 it shows that the Spirit and the Bride say "Come!" We are shown the bride is the redeemed tribes, and the spirit is the awakened saints. Heed the warning in Matthew 25 to have extra oil with you to meet the bridegroom.
14 Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and seated on the cloud one like a son of man, with a golden crown on his head, and a sharp sickle in his hand. 15 And another angel came out of the temple, calling with a loud voice to him who sat on the cloud, “Put in your sickle, and reap, for the hour to reap has come, for the harvest of the earth is fully ripe.” 16 So he who sat on the cloud swung his sickle across the earth, and the earth was reaped.
This white cloud is not the cloud of witnesses in Chapter 11, but a severe storm cloud with reapers with sharp sickles. White storm clouds have hail and destroy everything in its path. See the parable of the harvest:
Matthew 13:24 He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field, 25 but while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away. 26 So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared also. 27 And the servants of the master of the house came and said to him, ‘Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have weeds?’ 28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ So the servants said to him, ‘Then do you want us to go and gather them?’ 29 But he said, ‘No, lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, “Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.”
At the close of the great revivals at the turn of the 1900s, the harvest is ripe. The first great sickle is World War I.
17 Then another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he too had a sharp sickle. 18 And another angel came out from the altar, the angel who has authority over the fire, and he called with a loud voice to the one who had the sharp sickle, “Put in your sickle and gather the clusters from the vine of the earth, for its grapes are ripe.” 19 So the angel swung his sickle across the earth and gathered the grape harvest of the earth and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. 20 And the winepress was trodden outside the city, and blood flowed from the winepress, as high as a horse’s bridle, for 1,600 stadia.
The second sickle would be WWII, and the clusters that were gathered were those who were tormented in the Holocaust. The sickle here is used to either gather wheat or to cut off vines. We see that there are fruit on the vine and not withered, so they are followers of Jesus as shown in John 15. The vine is Jerusalem as well as believers that are grafted onto the vine.
1 Enoch: 1 In those days, in one place, fathers together with their sons shall be smitten, and brothers will fall in death with one another until the streams flow with their blood. 2 For a man shall not spare his hand from slaying his sons and his sons' sons, and the sinner shall not spare his hand from his honored brother: from dawn till sunset they shall slay one another. 3 And the horse shall wade up to the breast in the blood of sinners, and the chariot shall be submerged to its height. 4 In those days, the angels shall descend into the secret places and gather together all those who brought down sin, and the Most High will arise on that day of judgment to execute great judgment among sinners. 5 And over all the righteous and holy, He will appoint guardians from among the holy angels to guard them as the apple of an eye, until He makes an end of all wickedness and all sin, and though the righteous sleep a long sleep, they have nothing to fear.
Joel 3:13 Swing the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, trample the grapes, for the winepress is full; the wine vats overflow because their wickedness is great.
Lamentations 1:15 The Lord has rejected all the mighty men in my midst; He has summoned an army against me to crush my young warriors. Like grapes in a winepress, the Lord has trampled the Virgin Daughter of Judah.
Genesis 49:11 He ties his donkey to the vine, his colt to the choicest branch. He washes his garments in wine, his robes in the blood of grapes.
The holocaust from 1933 - 1945 is the great winepress. The verse says the place of gathering the fruit of the vine would be outside the city. The concentration and death camps during WW2 were indeed out in the country. The verse from Enoch's slaughter also says that it would rise to the horse's bridle, but also to submerge the chariot. The carnage would be incomprehensible. Lets look at the translation closer.
When we read the Strong's and other translations of the verse, there is no mention of "distance." Smith's Literal Translation: And the winepress was trodden under foot without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even to the horses' bridles, from sixteen hundred stadia. Read the verse as: The blood came from the winepress, to the horses' bridles, as from 1600 colosseums.
The stadia they are referring to is the race track of the colosseum. We are not measuring distance here, we are needing to imagine what happened IN those colosseums, and not just 1 stadia, but 1600 stadia. There would be carnage of 40 times 40 (1600) colosseums, more death and torture than that even of the most bloodthirsty Roman emperors. The usage of the chariot in Enoch's version further solidifies this idea because of the chariot races that were held in these colosseums. Jesus gathered the grapes and treads the winepress in chapter 19.
The Greek word "holocaust" means "burnt offering."
