1 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain. 2 And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, 3 and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.
The dragon here is not a beast, so we can show it’s the dragon of chapter 12 again. The wording here is confusing that the serpent was bound for 1000 years, then thrown in a pit and sealed, but then released when the 1000 years were ended. It doesn’t make sense that the 1000 years applies to the dragon, but rather the 1000 years of Christ, and the dragon was bound during that time, thrown in the pit and shut and sealed during that time, then released at the end of that time and becomes a beast. I’m convinced of this timeline and I’ll show you my reasoning.
Revelation11:7 And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that rises from the bottomless pit will make war on them and conquer them and kill them, (it was the dragon that conquered the Culdees and Waldensians, but this says beast. The red dragon is the red beast according to this verse)
Revelation 17:8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to rise from the bottomless pit (abyss) and go to destruction. (the red beast-dragon the woman is riding rises from the abyss before it goes to destruction, which is in a little while from v3 above)
The serpent - red dragon - was chained, thrown into the pit and sealed during the “millenial reign.” We know that’s the dragon because it isn’t a beast until it rises from the pit. When the serpent was thrown into the pit and sealed, was the Suppression of the Jesuits in the mid-1700s. The great chain could mean that the Jesuits were still active in overseas colonies, such as the U.S. and China. In 1773 the decree was issued from Pope Clement XIV to suppress the Jesuits, and reversed 41 years later in 1814. The serpent was released and became the red Rome beast in 1927 when the Vatican was made a city-state. They will rule from the Vatican until the time of the end.
With the phrase “1000 years are ended” I see another “1000 years” here at play. The 1000 years that ended in 1927 speaks of the reign of Christ, which began when he was baptized, likely in 27 AD. 1900 is a prophetic time, because the sabbath moon cycle is complete in 19 years. Take that 19, x 10, x 10 and this is the millennial reign of Christ. I know this is a head-scratcher, and take it or leave it, but here are some other confirmations I have found:
20 BC – Herod begins work on the temple, taking down Ezra’s temple and replacing it with a pagan version to suit the tastes of Rome. 1900 years later, in the 1880s, is the First Aliyah where the Jews start migrating back to their promised land.
27 AD – Jesus is anointed by God’s Spirit at his baptism and He begins to preach about his coming kingdom. 1900 years later, the dragon receives his final kingdom when the Vatican becomes its own sovereign city-state.
33 AD to 45 AD – Intense persecution of the disciples, where all but John were tortured and martyred by the Jewish community who wouldn’t turn to the new covenant. 1900 years later the Jews suffered their persecution starting in 1933, culminating in the Holocaust and ending 12 years later in 1945.
67 AD – The beginning of the Jewish-Roman revolt and the siege of Jerusalem. 1900 years later Jerusalem was recognized as belonging to the Jews once again. On June 7, 1967 Moshe Dayan declared that Israel will never relinquish control of Jerusalem. Christ has reigned from the time the temple was destroyed to the time that the Jews come back to their home.
The Bride of the Lamb has made her way back to the land of the promise.
4 Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God,
When the 1000 year reign of Christ is over in 1927, then the serpent/beast will be loosed for a little while then go to destruction. This is where we are at now. Satan’s full power to deceive even the very elect is overtaking every corner of the world. Followers of Christ need to be awake, keep their lights burning, buy gold refined in fire, pray for eye salve and be bold for the Kingdom. Remember the Laodicean church that hears Jesus knock. When we open the door, he will come in and we will eat together.
Luke 12:22 And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. 24 Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! 25 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? 26 If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest? 27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 28 But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! 29 And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. 30 For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you. 32 “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. 34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 35 Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning. 36 Then you will be like servants waiting for their master to return from the wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks, they can open the door for him at once. 37 Blessed are those servants whom the master finds on watch when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve and will have them recline at the table, and he himself will come and wait on them. 38 Even if he comes in the second (9pm-12am) or third watch (12am - 3am) of the night and finds them alert, those servants will be blessed. 39 But understand this: If the homeowner had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. 40 You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour you do not expect.”"
John 14:12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. 13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. 15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. 18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. 21 Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” 22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me.
If we conquer, we will sit with him on his throne, as he also conquered and sat on his throne.
Luke 22:28 You are the ones who have stood by Me in My trials. 29 And I bestow on you a kingdom, just as My Father has bestowed one on Me, 30 so that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Matthew 19:28 Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, in the new world, when the Son of Man will sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.
1 Corinthians 6:1 When one of you has a grievance against another, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints? 2 Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases? 3 Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life!
5 The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection! The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years.
The 1900 years that Christians kept the word of God alive and advanced the kingdom share in the first resurrection. We were dead in our sins and there was no hope for salvation except by the blood of Jesus and the new covenant. The Jews are still dead in their sins because the Law of Moses does not have the power to save, only Jesus does. The second resurrection is the salvation of the Jews. This is a prophetic resurrection, the literal resurrection is in verse 12.
7 And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will come out to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea. 9 And they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, but fire came down from heaven and consumed them, 10 and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. (age upon age)
We can absolutely see all around us the work of the dragon in every facet of our lives. Mystery Babylon is ruling the planet, with death and destruction happening on every continent. Things are not adding up. The rulers of all our nations are puppets and distractions to the scheme of the dragon. The false religion that is in its infancy (Abraham Accords) will be our testing ground to see if we are sheep or goats. Gog and Magog here is likely the area of the Middle East, the old area of ancient Babylon and Persia. Christians (the camps of the saints) and Jews, (the beloved city) will see the final push of deception to try to keep us from our promise of salvation. The time of testing will be strenuous, and there will be war (sulfur) but God will either fight our enemy Himself, or help us to fight, and they will be consumed and tormented. I don’t know precisely what this means, but I know God will be with us through it all! Take comfort in Psalm 91, I will only see with my eyes, the recompense of the wicked.
11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. 13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done.
This is the literal resurrection, see John 5:25, the words of Jesus:
“Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself. 27 And he has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man. 28 Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.
Here's the prophecy of the resurrection from the Apocrypha 2 Baruch 50:
50:1 And He answered and said unto me: 'Hear, Baruch, this word, And write in the remembrance of your heart all that you shall learn. 2 For the earth shall then assuredly restore the dead, [Which it now receives, in order to preserve them]. It shall make no change in their form, But as it has received, so shall it restore them, And as I delivered them unto it, so also shall it raise them. 3 For then it will be necessary to show the living that the dead have come to life again, and that those who had departed have returned (again). 4 And it shall come to pass, when they have severally recognized those whom they now know, then judgment shall grow strong, and those things which before were spoken of shall come.
Baruch 51:1 And it shall come to pass, when that appointed day has gone by, that then shall the aspect of those who are condemned be afterwards changed, and the glory of those who are justified. 2 For the aspect of those who now act wickedly shall become worse than it is, as they shall suffer torment. 3 Also (as for) the glory of those who have now been justified in My law, who have had understanding in their life, and who have planted in their heart the root of wisdom, then their splendor shall be glorified in changes, and the form of their face shall be turned into the light of their beauty, that they may be able to acquire and receive the world which does not die, which is then promised to them. 4 For over this above all shall those who come then lament, that they rejected My law, and stopped their ears that they might not hear wisdom or receive understanding. 5 When therefore they see those, over whom they are now exalted, (but) who shall then be exalted and glorified more than they, they shall respectively be transformed, the latter into the splendor of angels, and the former shall yet more waste away in wonder at the visions and in the beholding of the forms. 6 For they shall first behold and afterwards depart to be tormented.
7 But those who have been saved by their works, And to whom the law has been now a hope, And understanding an expectation, And wisdom a confidence, Shall wonders appear in their time. 8 For they shall behold the world which is now invisible to them, And they shall behold the time which is now hidden from them: 9 And time shall no longer age them. 10 For in the heights of that world shall they dwell, And they shall be made like unto the angels, And be made equal to the stars, And they shall be changed into every form they desire, From beauty into loveliness, And from light into the splendor of glory.
11 For there shall be spread before them the extents of Paradise, and there shall be shown to them the beauty of the majesty of the living creatures which are beneath the throne, and all the armies of the angels, who are now held fast by My word, lest they should appear, and] are held fast by a command, that they may stand in their places till their advent comes. 12 Moreover, there shall then be excellency in the righteous surpassing that in the angels. 13 For the first shall receive the last, those whom they were expecting, and the last those of whom they used to hear that they had passed away.
14 For they have been delivered from this world of tribulation, And laid down the burthen of anguish. 15 For what then have men lost their life, And for what have those who were on the earth exchanged their soul? 16 For then they chose (not) for themselves this time, Which, beyond the reach of anguish, could not pass away: But they chose for themselves that time, Whose issues are full of lamentations and evils, And they denied the world which ages not those who come to it, And they rejected the time of glory, So that they shall not come to the honor of which I told you before.'
'How can we forget those for whom woe is then reserved?1 And I answered and said: 2 And why therefore do we again mourn for those who die? Or why do we weep for those who depart to Sheol? 3 Let lamentations be reserved for the beginning of that coming torment, And let tears be laid up for the advent of the destruction of that time. 4 [But even in the face of these things will I speak. 5 And as for the righteous, what will they do now? 6 Rejoice you in the suffering which you now suffer: For why do you look for the decline of your enemies? 7 Make ready your soul for that which is reserved for you, And prepare your souls for the reward which is laid up for you.']"
14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
Isaiah 25 - swallow up death forever 6 On this mountain the LORD of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine, of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined. 7 And he will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all peoples, the veil that is spread over all nations. 8 He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken. 9 It will be said on that day, “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the LORD; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.” 10 For the hand of the LORD will rest on this mountain, and Moab shall be trampled down in his place, as straw is trampled down in a dunghill. 11 And he will spread out his hands in the midst of it as a swimmer spreads his hands out to swim, but the LORD will lay low his pompous pride together with the skill of his hands. 12 And the high fortifications of his walls he will bring down, lay low, and cast to the ground, to the dust.
Matthew 5:5 5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
